Senior BI (Business Intelligence) Developer job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Data Platform & BI Developer with expertise in Microsoft BI & Analytics Solutions. In this role, you will collaborate with business analysts to develop, maintain, and support operational reports, dashboards, and scorecards for clients across various industries. You will be responsible for building best-in-class BI, Analytics, and Big Data Solutions on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform that will be consumed by organizational leaders and executives.

Skills Requirement:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience with Azure SQL, SQL Server 2016 or later versions. Experience with SQL Server 2019 is an added advantage.
  • Strong background in data warehouse design (e.g., dimensional modelling) and data mining.
  • In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP), and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) frameworks.
  • Familiarity with BI technologies, such as Microsoft Power BI and OBIEE.
  • Proficiency in SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Proven ability to take initiative and be innovative.
  • Analytical mindset with a strong problem-solving aptitude.
  • Experience on Power Platform (Power Apps etc.,) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Power BI Mobile is a plus.
  • Proficient in data visualization using Power BI with strong application development skills.
  • Experience implementing Row-Level Security by defining various constraints for each defined role.
  • Expertise in writing DAX in MS Power BI Desktop.
  • Experience in creating calculated measures and columns with DAX in MS Power BI Desktop (Aggregate, Date, Logical, String, Table functions).
  • Skilled in creating various visualizations, including Slicers, Line charts, Pie charts, Histograms, Maps, Scatter plots, Bullets, Heat Maps, and Tree maps.
  • Experience with SSRS integration into Power BI.
  • Experience with Data Gateway for data refreshing and content pack management.
  • Excellent knowledge of connecting Microsoft Power BI Desktop to various data sources, with SQL Server being desirable.
  • Experience in creating custom visuals and managing groups in Power BI.
  • Experience in managing embed codes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients in the design, development, implementation, and support of MS Azure BI implementations. Utilize your broad understanding of both cloud and on-premises BI tools to create effective solutions for global customers. Ensure that best practices are followed to maximize customer value.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications.
  • Design, build, and deploy BI solutions (e.g., reporting tools).
  • Maintain and support data analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, SSRS, SSIS).
  • Create tools to store data (e.g., OLAP cubes).
  • Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate and improve existing BI systems.
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate systems.
  • Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses.
  • Create visualizations and reports for requested projects.
  • Develop and update technical documentation
